Areas of Enrichment
Exercise
Exercise enhances and maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness. It is performed for various reasons, to aid growth and improve strength, preventing aging, developing muscles and the cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss or maintenance, improving health.
Nutrition
Nutrition is important for athletes because it provides a source of energy required to perform the activity. The food we eat impacts on our strength, training, performance and recovery. SDSA believes the body doesn’t crave food but rather nutrition. Filling our bodies with food that doesn’t provide nutritional value causes the body to crave more food. Eating foods with nutritious value fuels the body and mind.
Discipline
Successful athletes know how to set both short-term and long-term goals. Discipline teaches a child how to set goals (Learn a new skill? Improve techniques?) and focus their efforts in accomplishing these. The athletic goal-setting skills a child acquires can be applied in other areas in their lives.
Rest
Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. ... During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health.
Passion
At its heart, passion generally emerges from a personal connection with someone or something desirable. Athletics ignite passion because they lend themselves so easily to that connection. We experience camaraderie around practice and progress. And finally, there are victory celebrations which the community enjoys (some more than others) from one season to the next.
Team Work
Teamwork promotes an atmosphere that fosters friendship and loyalty. These close-knit relationships motivate athletes in parallel and align them to work harder, cooperate and be supportive of one another. Individuals possess diverse talents, weaknesses, communication skills, strengths, and habits and teamwork allows athletes to use each others strengths to counter each players weaknesses. Learning from people that find certain tasks easier than you helps us have the confidence that anything is possible.
